Summary

Mission

Cambly, a Series B EdTech startup with $60M+ in raised capital and over 10 years in the market, sought to improve their tutor landing page. The company needed a complete redesign to more effectively convey the benefits of tutoring through their platform. Additionally, they wanted the page to better match their brand aesthetic.

My Contributions

As the sole designer for this project, I was responsible for: designing the new page from scratch, creating custom visuals and illustrations, developing the page in Webflow, and implementing animations and transitions. I delivered a fully functional page ready for deployment.

My Role

Web Designer & Webflow Developer

Getting Started

The goal of this project was to completely redesign and expand an existing landing page. The page was aimed at tutors and it's goal was to show tutors why they should sign up to teach on the platfrom. The ideas was to let them know why and how they should become a tutor, answer some common question and provide a clear Call to Action.

Existing Page

The existing page was very basic, with only two sections, so it needed to be expanded significantly. It also didn't match the rest of the website as well, which also needed to be addressed.

Visual Design

The client had a very clear idea of what content they wanted to on the page, so the main part of my job was to create the design based around that content. After a very quick wireframe, I moved into visual design and worked with the client through couple rounds of revision to get to the final version.

One of the goals was to have the page match the rest of the website in terms of aesthetic, and to aid with this I was given brand guidelines and a range of brand assets I could use as inspiration.

Below you can see final design for a few sections of the page. I'll also include a screenshot of the full page at the end of this case study.

Custom Illustrations & Visuals

The project required a lot of visuals and illustrations that fit the brand's style and match the rest of the website. I created a series of custom illustrations, icons and visuals, some from scratch and some by reusing and combining existing brand assets.

Here are some assets I created for this page:

Including the Brand Mascot

The client wanted to include their mascot, a bird named Cam, in multiple places across the page but they left it up to me to decide how exactly to include it. I was given a range of different version of Cam they created, and I combined a couple of them with some text in a hand-written font to create more interesting transitions between sections and to call out important elements on the page.

To see it in context, check out the full page in the next section.

Webflow Development

Once the design was complete, it was time to implement the page in Webflow. This included creating the pages from scratch, optimizing images for web and implementing animation on the page.

Below you can see a screenshot of the acutal page.

Note: The company has since rebranded, and the website has been redesigned, so this page no longer matches the brand aesthetic as well as it did when it was created.
